What is a Flash Trigger?

A flash trigger is a small device that allows you to fire an external flash when you're taking photos. It allows you to fire multiple flashes at once, for example, to light your subject from different angles, and gives you the freedom to place the flashes around corners or even out of sight, giving you complete control over the light in your shot.

In addition to radio triggers, there are also wired flash triggers, but these can significantly limit your creativity and workflow. Therefore, we always recommend opting for a radio flash trigger. PocketWizard is the optimal choice for this, as these triggers work with a unique radio frequency and are therefore more reliable than triggers that only use a 2.4 GHz radio signal. They also allow a wider area of application thanks to the longer range. For a wireless connection, you need a transmitter that plugs into the hot shoe of your camera and a receiver that attaches to your flash. This allows you to configure multiple flashes that fire automatically while shooting. All PocketWizard devices are transceivers, which means they automatically detect whether the signal is transmitting or receiving.

Why PocketWizard?

PocketWizard is a long-standing industry expert with over 30 years of expertise. The products were developed by photographers for photographers and the company has always kept up to date with new technologies. But one thing has always remained the same: the excellent quality of the products. Unlike cheaper alternatives on the market, these do not need to be constantly replaced or renewed because PocketWizard products are designed to last. Built into an extremely robust housing, they can be taken anywhere, no matter where your photography takes you. Should there ever be something wrong with your device, PocketWizard devices are easy to repair and are protected by a 2-year guarantee - so you as the user will not incur any costs if the devices need to be replaced within this time.

Another important point that sets PocketWizard apart is the fact that the triggers work on a specific radio frequency. Other triggers are more susceptible to interference, which can sometimes cost you the perfect shot, but PocketWizard allows you to use a specific frequency that cannot be interfered with. This is important for those who shoot at weddings or events, for example, where radio frequencies can be more susceptible to interference. Even if events cannot take place at the moment, flash triggers can be incredibly useful for keeping your photoshoots at the social distance that is important at the moment.

In addition, PocketWizard offers the user full TTL control to ensure you can capture that one magical moment. PocketWizard has a much greater range in which you can set up your flash units compared to the competition: up to 8km in long range mode and 950m in standard mode.
