How Many PANTONE Colours Are You Missing?

Pictures, prints and photo books fade over time and Pantone Guides are no different. However, by regularly updating your Pantone Guides, you can ensure that you have access to a wide range of trending colors with the most accurate representation of the color achievable.

AGING EFFECTS: IS MY COLOUR STILL THE RIGHT COLOUR?

However, even with the best care in the world, the colors in your guides will fade with use. This means that your colors will appear inaccurate over time, which is why we recommend replacing your guides at least every 12 months, depending on usage and storage habits, such as:

• Handling Smudging and removal of color pigments through natural oils on the fingertips

• Rubbing sides Scratching or removing color pigments

• Exposure to light causes fading

• Paper aging Yellowing effects can occur

• Ambient humidity accelerates paper aging

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY COLORS ARE INACCURATE?

One of the biggest design frustrations is having to resort to post-production to get the color right. There are many reasons why this happens, but a key and easy-to-explain point is that your production partners are using old guides.
