ControlTL ™
PocketWizard's latest firmware platform accesses the camera's digital communications and enables a whole new level of remote flash functionality via our proven radio system. ControlTL enables remote i-TTL for Nikon CLS / i-TTL systems, as well as manual power control. ControlTL firmware is configurable and upgradeable to ensure "future-proof" continuous improvement.
Dedicated CLS/i-TTL triggering
By connecting your FlexTT5 transceiver to the flash of a Nikon DSLR camera and attaching CLS/i-TTL flash units to FlexTT5 transceivers, you get complete flash exposure control with the freedom and reliability of a PocketWizard radio. There are no special settings or modes to recall. Use the camera's exposure compensation controls for basic remote flash control, or add an AC3 ZoneController or Nikon Master for even more flexibility.
Manual power control
Adjust the manual power settings of your Nikon Speedlights directly from an SB-800, SB-900 Speedlight or a PocketWizard AC3 ZoneController installed on the camera's FlexTT5. When working with a Nikon SB-800, SB-900 or AC3 in the FlexTT5's shoe, you can independently control the power output of up to three remote groups of lights (you can have as many lights as you want in each group) from full power to the lowest setting. Now you can have full control with the remote lights without leaving your shooting position. The Nikon SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander can also be used.
Select Zone
The FlexTT5 transceiver features an ABC zone selector switch that allows use with the remote groups/zones found on the PocketWizard AC3 ZoneController or Nikon strobes. Zones allow you to control individual or groups of lights independently of other lights in different zones. These zones can also be used with a MultiMAX. This allows you to pair a single MultiMAX radio with the FlexTT5 transceivers on your remote strobes and use many of the MultiMAX's advanced triggering features.
HyperSync ™
Our patent-pending HyperSync technology enables photographers to achieve faster X-sync speeds of up to 1/8000 second at full flash power. Now you can cut off the ambient light and shoot with an open aperture outdoors in bright sunlight. HyperSync automatically adjusts the timing of your flash trigger to achieve faster speeds than X-sync. With certain Nikon camera and flash combinations, you can achieve sync as fast as 1/8000 second. Imagine what you can do with flash in bright sunshine with wide open apertures and fast shutter speeds. Because HyperSync is a trigger feature, you can use any PocketWizard receiver, including the FlexTT5, PlusX, Plus III, Plus II, or MultiMAX. HyperSync works optimally with Studio Flash. See High Speed Sync (Auto FP) for faster speeds than XSync with flash units.
Please visit http://wiki.pocketwizard.com/hyperSync to configure HyperSync. While performance will vary depending on the camera and flash used, HyperSync can get the most out of any configuration.
HyperSync ™ automation
HyperSync Automation adjusts HyperSync timing in two different locations - the transmitter and the receiving ControlTL radio. The camera's transmitting MiniTT1 or FlexTT5 automatically adjusts HyperSync to compensate for changes in shutter speed. Photographers can further fine-tune HyperSync through the PocketWizard utility. For more information on configuring HyperSync Automation, see the HyperSync section of the PocketWizard wiki.
High-Speed Sync (Auto FP)
When HyperSync can't keep up, FP/High Speed Sync takes over for 1/8000 flash photography. Use this feature to shoot wide open in bright sunlight for amazing results.
High Speed Sync (HSS/FP Sync) mode disabled
For shutter speeds above x-sync, select either HSS Sync or HyperSync™. This allows you to take advantage of HyperSync and the benefits of full flash at up to 1/8000 with certain flash systems.
curtain sync
The precise rear curtain sync feature is activated via the camera's sync settings. Capture natural light trails with sharp shots at the end - no "after trails"!
Pre-Flash Boost
Nikon speedlights use a dual preflash system to calculate i-TTL exposure values. In many TTL situations, such as shooting in full sun, at long distances, or with diffusers or bounce flashes, the normal pre-flash is simply not enough for the camera. The PocketWizard's Pre-Flash Boost increases the flash duration of your remote. The first pre-flash on the remote is increased by three stops and the second pre-flash is increased by one stop. The boost level can also be adjusted on the flash if needed.
PowerTracking
When working with PowerST4, PowerMC2 and AC9 / FlexTT5 in conjunction with compatible manual flash units, you can change all your settings on the camera and the system will adapt to those changes. Change the exposure compensation to adjust the exposure or make settings for aperture, ISO and system
