EIZO ColorEdge CG319X HDR 4K LCD Monitor
Why EIZO?
Why EIZO?
The CG319X offers decisive advantages in the 4K video world as well as for photographers and graphic designers: It displays content extremely sharply thanks to its resolution of 149 ppi.
With 4096 x 2160 pixels, the CG319X is the ideal monitor for processing and natively displaying DCI-4K content. The built-in calibration sensor and the pre-installed HDR presets for HLG and PQ gamma make it ideal for professional tasks in video post-production, photography and other graphic applications.

The CG319X has a DCI-4K resolution of 4096 x 2160 (4K), which corresponds to four times more pixels than Full HD (1920 x 1080). This makes the monitor the ideal tool for 2D and 3D CGI or visual effects - from compositing to color grading.
The screen impresses with a very good contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a brightness of 350 cd/m 2 . The LCD module with IPS ( Wide Gamut ) panel allows a viewing angle of 178 degrees, so that colors and contrasts remain stable in the user's field of vision.
With HLG and PQ tone curves, the CG319X meets the relevant standards for displaying and editing content in HDR (High Dynamic Range). Thanks to the optimized gamma curves, these come close to natural, human color perception. Production and post-production professionals can rely on the reliable display with HDR tone curves when editing and color grading.
The wide gamut monitor reliably reproduces 98% of the DCI-P3 standard used in digital cinema and also supports the Rec. 2020 standard.
In addition, the CG319X covers 99% of the Adobe RGB color space. If images taken in RAW format are converted to AdobeRGB, the monitor displays them with absolutely true colors. The EIZO monitor also offers great advantages when printing: It covers almost the entire CMYK color space (for example ISO Coated and US Web Coated). You can see on the screen what the final print result will look like and save yourself the need for proofs.
With its high contrast ratio, the CG319X displays deep blacks that often appear pale or washed out on a typical LCD monitor due to the backlight. This is especially true when viewing the monitor from the side in dimly lit rooms. The CG series is equipped with a retardation film that enables this depth of black tones even at wide viewing angles.
The 3D LUT ensures the most precise tonal value assignment and extremely accurate color tone reproduction, which is shown, among other things, by the gray scale. With LCDs, the brightness levels in relation to the image signal and the color mixture (addition) of red, green and blue vary from module to module. This can only be accurately recorded and controlled with the help of special measuring devices. EIZO therefore sets each monitor in the CG series and its colors and tonal value curve at the factory. This achieves a consistent color temperature across the entire gray scale. The result: The color reproduction is the same, precise and reliable on every single CG319X.
With the built-in calibration sensor you achieve maximum color accuracy. The sensor is perfectly matched to the monitor, takes environmental influences such as light into account and correlates the center and edge of the image. This achieves a uniform result across the entire monitor.
The sensor is located in the housing frame and only extends for measurement. An external calibration device is therefore unnecessary and the color accuracy of the monitor is always optimal.
The CG319X is equipped with the latest sensor technology, which enables recalibration during operation. This means you can continue working with color-non-critical applications while the monitor calibrates. The sensor takes up very little space on the screen during calibration and therefore does not represent an obstruction. Calibration can also take place completely automatically at definable times.
Good image processing is only possible on well-calibrated monitors. The usual software calibration takes a long time and requires specialist knowledge from the user. The CG319X is supplied with the ColorNavigator hardware calibration software. It can be carried out in just a few steps, even by users without in-depth specialist knowledge. Advanced users can specify brightness, gamma and white point and other calibration settings numerically as target values. Because the calibration takes place via the monitor's hardware, it is lossless and independent of the computer and graphics card. The CG319X fits perfectly into an existing system.
With LCD panels, the image display varies from module to module. This is why every single ColorEdge monitor is precisely measured and perfectly adjusted in the factory. The gamma curves of the red, green and blue channels are checked closely and corrected if necessary. This unique EIZO factory calibration allows the user to use the monitor with the preset color spaces straight out of the box. In addition, the factory calibration enables the user to recalibrate much more quickly with the ColorNavigator .
The Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) controls all tonal values across the entire monitor, pixel by pixel. The effect: The colors appear identical at every point on the screen, without brightness fluctuations like with conventional LCDs. The DUE function also compensates for the effects of ambient temperature fluctuations on color temperature and brightness. You always enjoy a homogeneous luminance distribution and perfect color purity. A big plus for image retouching and color grading.
Thanks to a 10-bit color representation based on a 24-bit LUT, you can use a huge color spectrum. This is made possible by the fast DisplayPort and HDMI connections in conjunction with the frame rate control. A billion colors are available to you simultaneously. That is 64 times as many colors as with the 8-bit representation. The color gradations are finer and the color distances between neighboring colors are smaller. Also important for post-production: the extended grayscale range. When the 10-bit grayscale range is activated, between 6% and 14% more grayscales are visible.
The be-all and end-all for precise image processing: constant brightness and color temperature . Patented electronics compensate for brightness fluctuations that can occur as a result of longer operating times and increased ambient and operating temperatures. Thanks to an integrated thermometer, color deviations caused by room temperature fluctuations are controlled and automatically reduced. Color reproduction remains absolutely constant over a long period of operation. Right from the start: The warm-up time until brightness, color and tone have fully stabilized is only three minutes.
The monitor is flicker-free at any brightness setting. The advantage: your eyes don't tire as quickly. You can work on the screen for a long period of time.
It couldn't be easier: you can connect most of your devices such as PCs, laptops or cameras directly to the monitor because the monitor has different interfaces.
The CG319X supports a wide range of video formats up to 10-bit 4:4:4 at 50/60p via DisplayPort input and 10-bit 4:2:2 at 50/60 Hz via HDMI . This means that the CG319X can not only be integrated into PC-based workflows, but can also be used with HDMI players.
Film emulation with 3D-LUT ColorNavigator and ColorNavigator NX can use 3D-LUT files from the color grading of films to generate data for emulation on the monitor. This film emulation is available for up to five color modes of the monitor and is suitable for simulating the color of films.
Ideal for subtitles and critical images: Thanks to the Safe Area Marker, you know which area of the screen is displayed on another output device. You can therefore see immediately whether subtitles, text or important image elements are in the visible area. You can change the marker color so that the marker is clearly visible on every image.
The Aspect Marker allows you to display image areas of DCI 4K (4,096 x 2,160 pixels) or 2K (2,048 x 1,080 pixels) footage that appear differently when played back on different devices with a different aspect ratio.
To assess details and sharpness, you can quickly and easily zoom into different areas of the monitor image by selecting them directly in the monitor menu.
The Luminance Warning can be used to mark areas that exceed a certain brightness (300, 500, 1000 or 4000 cd/m 2 ) when using the PQ mode. These areas are marked in either yellow or magenta.
The color gamut warning works in two modes: Rec. 2020 Image content that cannot be displayed in the Rec. 709 color space is displayed in grayscale. Alternatively, the Rec. 709 clipping mode simulates how Rec. 2020 material would look on HDTV devices.
HDMI signals are supported at refresh rates of 60, 50, 30, 25 and 24 Hz, so you can see and edit your footage as it was recorded. The monitor also features I/P conversion.
Presets for the color spaces DCI-P3, Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 are precisely calibrated at the factory and ensure that you work with correct gamma values. In addition, color modes for PQ (DCI and Rec. 2100) and HLG (Rec. 2100) for displaying HDR content are also preset at the factory. The color modes can be easily changed at the touch of a button on the monitor and recalibrated with ColorNavigator if necessary.
Operation is easy and clear. The Button Guide, an overview function on the monitor, immediately shows you the respective button function above the control panel. The backlit buttons mean that the monitor can also be operated in dark environments. This is particularly helpful in darkened post-production studios.
The CG319X has a flexible stand for adjusting the height, tilt and rotation. The monitor can be adjusted to suit the user's needs. For example, to adjust it for an ergonomic sitting position (e.g. lowering it to the base plate) or to show customers and colleagues something on the screen.
The IPS panel has an optimal anti-reflective coating. Glare is minimized by scattering the reflected light. This protects your eyes from strain. The monitor also allows wide viewing angles without annoying reflections. This is particularly advantageous when several people are sitting in front of the screen.
The EIZO CG319X complies with strict softproof specifications based on the draft standard ISO/CD 12646. This is the result that Fogra Forschungsgesellschaft Druck eV came to as part of the monitor test. The CG319X therefore received the Fogra seal of approval "FograCert Softproof Monitor". This means that you are working with a tested, color-accurate monitor.
The light protection hood reduces reflections and brightness on the screen and protects your eyes. It is easy to put on and reduces the light coming in from above and the sides.
